We all love scented candles as it
freshens our room and fill it with its aroma. As we know that these candles are
quite costly so why not make them at our home and that too using some old
regular candles. Any candles lying here there in your house can be used for
this DIY. Let’s get started without any delay.
Things that you will need are
some old candles, any container, coffee powder and vanilla essence. You can use
candle scent but I have used vanilla essence and coffee powder. You can use
other ingredients for fragrance like cinnamon powder. Let’s begin with the
procedure.
Take few candles depending upon
the size of the container. Break the candles into small pieces without
discarding its thread. When we will melt the candle then those threads will
automatically get separated. Now take one candle and carefully remove wax from
the middle thread leaving some wax at the end. It will be used as the thread
for the new candle. You can use candle wicks as well but I thought of using
candle only. Apply some hot glue at the center of the base of the container and
paste the thread on it from the wax side. Take a spoon and roll the extra
thread on it to keep it in place. Keep this container aside.
Now shift the candle pieces into
a bowl and then place this on a double boiler. To make double boiler, heat the
water in a bowl to a boil and then place the bowl with candle pieces in the
water. Let the wax melt properly till you get a clear liquid. Discard all the
threads using spatula. Turn off the flame and let the wax cool down a bit while
keeping the wax bowl still in hot water. Now add one teaspoon coffee powder and
4-5 drops of vanilla essence into the wax. Coffee powder will not dissolve in
the wax but let it be like that and stir the wax.
Pour the wax into the container
and sprinkle some glitter on the top. Let it rest for some time and after sometime,
cut the extra thread with the scissor.
These scented candles are so easy
to make and the best part about them is that you can customize them. These are
absolutely perfect for gifting them to your loved ones. Enjoy these aromatic
candles!!
