Clay Art Key Hanger

Today I am going to share my first ever clay art painting. I am a big fan of this kind of art simply because you can create wonders using clay but because it’s my first time, I decided to keep it simple.

The clay has been used in the art field from last many decades. Clay has several qualities that make it apt for the craft.  It hardens with time in whatever shape you have given to it so you does not have to worry about the structure. It is totally water proof and durable. Also you can use any acrylic colors of your choice and if you want colored clay then just add color drops into the dough while kneading. Even today, Clay has that charm which attracts all craft lovers, like me, to innovate something new.

I have used a wooden frame; you can get these wooden frames from any crafting store available near you. Frame that I used is a key hanger and has a peacock like shape; you can get any frame of your choice such as wall clock, wall hanging, wall painting, etc. Firstly, you need to knead the dough of the clay. The clay that I got is in the form of the dough so I directly used it. Now firstly, you have to make shapes with the dough which fully covers the frame design. You can also form some kind of texture or design on the clay using needle. Always be careful while using clay as it starts hardening after sometime so keep the dough covered. Then just allow it to get hardened for about 8-10 hours. Once hardened, just color it with your choice of Acrylic colors. To make colors water-proof, apply varnish all over the design. You can get the varnish at any hardware shop available near you. Varnish will give shine or smoothness to the surface and also enhance the look of the frame.

Here are the pictures of my clay art painting:
