Papered: Paper Flower Vase

Diwali is about to come which is a festival of light and a great reason to decorate our home. That’s why I thought of sharing something for Home decor. Today I am sharing a beautiful and colorful Flower Vase which is made up of using old magazines. Here is the Flower Vase that we are going to make.

You will need following materials for making the Flower Vase:

Old Magazines or Newspaper
Glue
Pearl Colors
Paint Brush
Varnish
Cardboard
Colored Sheets
Scissor

Following is the procedure for making Flower Vase:

Step 1: Take papers of an Old Magazine and divide them into half. Then roll each piece of paper into thin tubes as shown below.

Step 2: Paste paper rolls together to form a large sheet of paper rolls. Let it dry properly for some time before proceeding further.

Step 3: Now draw a straight line at the top and bottom of the sheet to remove uneven ends of paper rolls. Then using scissor discard the uneven ends to make a rectangular sheet of rolls. Paste both the ends of the paper rolls sheet to form a cylinder. Be extra careful while pasting and also handle it with care.

Step 4: Cut two equal sized circles of cardboard whose size must be equal to the base of the cylinder. Paste the circles together and insert into the cylinder at the base of it. Take a paper of magazine and paste under the base where you have inserted the cardboard circles. Then cut out the extra paper.

Step 5: Mix white glue with water and apply all over the vase and let it dry for some time. Then apply white acrylic color all over the vase and let it dry again.

Step 6: I have used pearl and acrylic colors but you can use regular water colors as well. Take pink color and apply on the walls of the vase and then apply purple at the bottom of the vase. Lastly, apply golden color at the top of the vase walls. At the base of the vase, apply black color.

Step 7: This step is optional. If you have varnish then you can apply it on the vase to make it water proof and shiny.

Step 8: Take four colored sheets and cut three small circles of each color. Cut a spiral shape starting from the edge of the circle and leave a circle in the center where you will paste the rolled flower. Next start rolling the spiral shape from the edge until you reaches the center. Let the swirl of rolled paper loosen up to get the rose and then paste it with glue at the center to secure the rose. Prepare roses of different colors using same method.
