Best Reminder: A Souvenir

Few days back was my close friend’s birthday and so I was in dilemma how to make it special for her. Then one day I just came up with an idea but I was not sure whether it will look good or bad. I started working on this idea from the very next day and it took 2 days to get ready. It turned out to be amazing and so creative that is why I am here to share procedure for making an adorable Souvenir on blog. This cute souvenir is best to give to someone special and close to your heart.

This idea is very simple to execute and you just need some patience for it. Let us start with procedure:

Step 1: Take a white sheet which must be thick. Decide which word you want to use in your souvenir. You can choose the name of the person for whom this souvenir is meant for or any word of your choice. I have selected word RANK as it depicts the name of my girl’s gang. Now write this word in capital and bold letters on the white sheet. You can use stencils for that or you can directly write by yourself like I did. Letter must be clear and big. Also letter should be in continuation. Now cut this word with the scissor. Cut another same word so you must have two copies of the chosen word.

Step 2: Take a thin wooden stick and cut two equal sticks from it. Take blue color tape and cover these sticks as shown in figure. Leave some part of the stick unwrapped at the top. Now take one cut out of word which is cut in the previous step and paste unwrapped part of each stick on both the sides of the cut out as shown in image. Take other cut out of the word and paste it on the top of the sticks such that the word looks same when viewed from any side. Let it dry properly.

Step 3: Take four colors of sparkles for each letter in the word. Apply glue on one letter and sprinkle sparkle on it. Do this process for other letters and for the back side also. Your center part is ready. Keep it aside to dry.

Step 4: Cut eight small hearts of equal size from the white sheet. Color them with your choice of colors. I have selected four colors to color them such that two hearts have same color. Let them dry properly.

Step 5: Cut four equal sized sticks from the wooden stick. Take colored tapes and cover these sticks as done before. Leave some part of the stick unwrapped at the top. Now take hearts of same color and paste them back to back having stick between them as shown in image. Ready all four hearts with sticks. Take a fluorescent sheet and cut four strips out of it. Paste each one on the heart and write anything on it.  Take a crafting wire and wrap it at the bottom of 4 hearts to join them in a batch as shown in the image. You can wrap in any way as this wire will not be visible in the final product.

Step 6: Take two plastic bowls. Take some plaster of paris in one big bowl and add water to make a paste of uniform consistency. The paste should not be too thick or too thin. Take another bowl of your choice and place the center part and hearts part as shown in the image. While holding them, pour pop paste in to the bowl till it gets filled completely. Now lift both the parts little upward so they get firm in pop. After sometime, leave the parts and let it dry for a day to get rock solid.

Step 7: Carefully remove the bowl from the base. Color the base and the sides black. Take a pattern sheet of pink color and cut a small rectangle out of it. Write any message or thought over it and round its corners. Paste the rectangle on the front of the central part.

Step 8: Take some colored sheets and prepare small roses. You can make roses of any color but make sure they must be small. Then paste these flowers on the empty spaces. Leave empty space behind heart sticks. Click here to learn how to make roses.

Step 9: Take three marbles and paste them behind the heart’s part. If there is still any empty space left color them with blue color.

Step 10: This step is optional. If the varnish is available with you then apply it at base to give smooth and shiny texture. Souvenir is ready!!

Happy DIY!!
