Paper Mache

In this post, we will be learning about a new crafting skill and that is Paper Mache craft. Paper Mache is a composite material formed with the pieces of paper mixed with glue. Basically, it is something like making clay at home but with paper and glue. It is very easy to make and use as well but it does consume some time to get prepared.

Let us start with the procedure by which you can make paper Mache at home. Divide newspaper sheet into small strips and soak them in water overnight until saturated. Next blend this paper water mixture to a fine paste with a blender. Then squeeze out the water using a strainer and get dry paper pulp. Add glue to the pulp and mix it thoroughly. Paper Mache is ready to use and use it just like a clay. For making something with Mache, you will need some base for support and shape like balloon, wire mesh or any object. Also don’t forget to grease the surface of the base before using paper Mache on it.

Paper Mache is used to make hard sculptures. You can make various interesting things with the paper Mache- bowls, sculptures, dolls, toys and much more. I am sharing two ideas here in this post that you can make with paper Mache- making a Bird’s Nest and Cute Penguin.
