Today, finally I am going to share the DIY of Tassel Earrings on this blog. I have already shared it on my YouTube channel. These tassel earrings are very much in trend and look amazingly stylish on every outfit. It goes very well with ethnic as well as western outfits. To make these yourself is very easy and inexpensive. Let’s start with the procedure!!!
Before starting, these Tassel
Earrings are highly customizable that is you can choose any color, design as per
your wish. First we will make tassels for the earrings using a silk thread. you
can get silk threads easily in your local market but still if you don’t get silk
ones then you can definitely use Anchor cotton threads. Take any square
cardboard piece and make sure that it must not be too thick. Length of this
card board piece will determine the length of your tassels. Cut two strings
from a normal thread or anchor cotton threads. Tape them on two opposite sides
of the square piece. Roll the silk thread into circular coil in the middle of
two strings which we have taped earlier. Coil must not be too tight and too
loose. Roll the thread for about 60-70 times to get the desired thickness of
tassels. Now discard the tape from both the strings one by one and tie two knots
of each string. Tie a knot at the top and one at the bottom of the coil. Carefully,
pull the coil out of the square piece and make sure that you won’t disturb the
coil as the silk thread is very delicate. Once done pulling, roll the strings
that are hanging on the two ends of the coil across the end to secure the coil
ends. Join the two ends together and cut the coil from the middle to get two
tassels of equal size. Lastly, cut out the excess part of the string at both
the ends of the coil. Your two tassels are ready!!
Next, take two white quilling
strips and quill them using slotted tool into a small circular coil. Now using
your fingers, make dome shape out of this coil. Prepare two such domes of equal
size with the quilling strips. Apply glue all over the two domes to secure the
shape and let them dry. After drying, Color each dome with the black acrylic
color and let them dry. Take small golden pearls or beads and paste them at
bottom edge of the domes with glue. Allow both the domes to get dry properly. Your
jhumkas are ready and now we will go ahead to assemble the earrings.
Take an eye pin having a loop at one end and a sharp pointed end at the other. Insert the loopy end of the eye pin into the tassel such that sharp end of eye pin comes out of the tassel. Insert the dome into the sharp end of eye pin from top above the tassel. Then insert a brown cream colored bead from the top into the eye pin. Using a plier, cut out the extra part of eye pin at the top leaving some for making a loop at the top. Make a loop using a nose-pin plier and insert an earring hook blank into this loop. Prepare another earring just like this one. Your beautiful Tassel Earrings are ready!!
