Aloo Bhujia

Holi is a festival of colors along with yummy food that we all make at our home. As few days left in Holi so I am sharing an exciting recipe of delicious Aloo Bhujia. It’s very simple to make at home and that too with a great taste.

Ingredients:
  • Potato 500 gm
  • Besan (Chick Pea Flour) 250 gm
  • Salt to taste
  • Red Chili Powder 2 tsp.
  • Garam Masala 1tsp.
  •  Asafetida (Hing) 2 pinches
  • Oil for Frying

Method:

Boil potatoes and peel them. Now grate them to form a thick potato paste. Add besan to the potato paste. Now add all the dry spices- salt, red chili powder, garam masala or hing. Mix the entire mixture and form a dough out of it.

Take a deep pan and add oil to it for frying. For making any kind of namkeen at home, you will need Sev Maker which comes along with different kinds of blade for making different styles of sev. Grease your hand with some oil. Take some dough in your hand and form a cylinder of it. Add this to the sev maker and close it. Once oil becomes hot, using sev maker, start adding sev directly from the maker to the pan in a spherical manner. Don’t add too much sev at once in the pan. Fry the sev on medium flame for some time and flip it to cook another side as well. Fry till slight golden color and then remove it from the pan. Now repeat this process for rest of the dough and let all spheres of sev to cool down. Now slightly crush sev into small pieces with your hand. Don’t crush them too small or too big.

Note: If your dough becomes quite thin due to potatoes, like mine, then don’t add water it. Use it just like that keeping the entire process same.

Aloo bhujia is ready and serve it with tea, coffee or have it just like that. Add chopped onions and tomato to the aloo bhujia and it will taste even more yummy.

Happy Cooking!!
